Protecting Your Information

Can we talk for a few minutes about protecting your business from cyber-fraud? Here at Banner Bank, we do all we can to protect your financial information in order to provide your business with a dependable online experience. However, all businesses must be aware of the computer-related crimes affecting them and how to protect themselves. We rely on our partnership with you to ensure the necessary precautions are taken to protect the safety of your business accounts. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) provides cybersecurity information for businesses on how to safeguard their computer systems and data. The FDIC and Banner provide the following tips to ensure your Commercial Online experience is efficient and secure: Protect computers and networks. Install security and antivirus software that protects against malware, or malicious software, which can access a computer system without your consent for a variety of uses, including theft of information. Do not leave your computer unattended when using Commercial Online. When in doubt—log out! Require strong login IDs and passwords. Ensure employees and other users connecting to your network use strong user IDs and passwords for computers, mobile devices and online accounts: • Create strong passwords by using a mixture of upper and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. • Do not create passwords using initials or birthdates. • Change passwords regularly. • Memorize passwords instead of writing them down. • Only register personal devices and avoid using features that save login IDs and passwords. • Employees should not connect to Commercial Online using the same login IDs and passwords they use to connect to social media such as Facebook—a frequent data gathering platform for cyber criminals. Control access to data and computers and create user accounts for each employee. Take measures to limit access or use of business computers to authorized individuals. Do not allow employees to access social media from the same computers they access Commercial Online.
